Western Maine Health is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) in Norway. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), on the basis of specialized education and experience, is authorized to deliver expanded professional health care. S/he assesses clients, synthesizes and analyzes data, understands and applies nursing principles at an advanced level; provides expert teaching and guidance; works effectively with clients, families and members of the health care team; manages clients’ physical and psychosocial health-illness status; utilizes research skills; analyzes multiple sources of data, identifies alternative possibilities as to the nature of a health care problem, and selects appropriate treatment; makes independent decisions in solving complex client care problems; performs acts of diagnosing, prescribing, administering and dispensing therapeutic measures; and recognizes limits of knowledge and experience, plans for situations beyond expertise, consults with or refers to other health care providers as appropriate.
Graduate of an approved Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) training program.
Certification by, or prepared for certification by, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or be actively seeking initial certification, meeting all criteria for eligibility for initial examination as outlined by the ANCC and/or AANP and pass the certification examination within 12 months of graduation as outlined in the Rules and Regulations of the Maine State Board of Nursing.
Newly licensed Nurse Practitioners for 24 months must practice under the supervision of a physician or other Nurse Practitioner acting within their Scope of Practice.
