To manage and ensure compliance with Massachusetts Immunization laws for incoming students; to administer immunizations and other medications as ordered and perform venipuncture and other treatments as ordered; to provide high quality clinical health care and triage to Bentley University students and to take vital signs, perform lab tests and assist and work closely with NPs, MDs, nutritionist and office staff.
The anticipated work schedule for this position is Monday and Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm, Tuesday 10:00am-6:00pm, Thursday and Friday 8:00am-4:00pm. Essential Duties
Triage patients who call or present in person to office with urgent concerns. Provide immunizations; blood drawing, dressing changes, nebulizer treatments and other nursing treatments as ordered. Record and track immunization compliance using the immunization program in the Medicat Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Post and verify posted immunizations in the Immunization Compliance Program in the Medicat EMR system throughout the year for the incoming students. Review medical histories for clinical information and notify director about students with complex medical issues: Review immunization records of entering students to record and ensure compliance with Massachusetts's immunization laws.
Follow up on and review labs as needed and assess urgency of results and give results to providers in a timely manner. Ensure department lab is CLIA compliant. Maintain full supply and order medical supplies for exam rooms, immunizations, stock medications, sample medications, nebulizers, and emergency bags (2). Prepare lab specimens, conduct in-office lab tests or spin lab specimens as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing; 3 years of pediatric or adolescent acute or urgent care and triage in a busy office practice. Must have knowledge of state immunization laws and have experience with vaccines, medications and medical treatments. Must have experience with electronic medical records - preferably Medicat EMR and scheduling. Must be able to be flexible and able to multitask in a busy office situation. Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license from the State of Massachusetts.
Private office with computer; Private exam room; Laboratory Daily exposure to communicable diseases through direct contact and through the handling of biological specimens (blood, urine, and vomitus, etc.) to be minimized by strict adherence to OSHA regulations and office procedures and use of protective equipment. The position requires sitting, walking and standing. Occasionally requires the ability to assist a client to stand or walk. The office is equipped with standard medical supplies as needed in a clinical setting. (i.e.exam tables, microscopes, stethoscope etc.).
