Assists patients, nurses and providers in patient care in the clinic setting. Greets patients, performs vital signs, and obtains history of chief complaint(s). Performs radiographic procedures as ordered by licensed independent practitioners (LIPs). Provides care for patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Licensed Independent Provider (LIP).
Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients, according to department policy and procedure, chaperones, assists with exams, and registers patients. Intervenes in patient care by communicating dysrhythmias to nurses and LIPs. Performs simple lab tests, processing blood and other body fluids, send outs, and other tests as required. Working within the clinic's scope of practice, completes limited procedures designated by the provider or nurse. Administers oral, IM, SQ, ID medications and utilizes the guidelines as specified by the medication management policies. Performs other tasks to assist in clinic function.
EDUCATION: Required proof of completion of high school or GED. Graduation from accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Must maintain currentARRT and New Mexico State license, Medical Assistant Certification, or must obtain within six months from date of hire, and BLS issued through American Heart Association is required. New hires out of training programs will have one year to complete the ARRT certification in Radiology and six months to complete Medical Assistant Certification.

Thorough knowledge of associated radiographic equipment, anatomy, physiology, radiographic positioning, medical terminology and basic computer skills.

Proficiency in office automation systems; develop familiarity with clinical applications such as Cerner Radnet, PACS, eClinicalWorks, Athena.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year experience in diagnostic radiology required which can be substituted with clinical education experience. A minimum of one year of in-patient or medical office experience, EKG, POC lab test and/or urinalysis experience, including direct patient contact, preferred.

ENVIRONMENT: Requires knowledge of general safety standards to limit exposure to infectious disease. Daily contact with infectious diseases and body fluids.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged, extensive or considerate standing, bending, stooping, walking, reaching above head and below knee level. Occasional pressure due to calls and inquiries. (Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.) Lifts, positions, pushes and or transfers patients and equipment in excess of 50 lbs. Utilization of proper body mechanics.
