Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The neonatal ICS hospitalist is responsible for attending high-risk newborn deliveries, and managing the care and well-being of the infants assigned to the ICS that are boarding with their mothers (healthy newborns and those getting treatments in the room), as well as the infants admitted to the Special Care Nursery.
Key duties and Responsibilities:
Attend high-risk deliveries and lead neonatal resuscitations.
Stabilize critically ill infants and prepare for transfer to tertiary facility.
Coordinate care for infants admitted to the Pregnancy & Birth Center: communicating treatment plans with the ICS physician or private pediatrician.
Teach and mentor learners assigned to the pediatric rotation - these include the Family Medicine residents and any other learners assigned to the Service.
Communicate plans of care with parents and/or guardians of infants admitted.
Coordinate with the physician on service to write daily notes on each infant.
Assist other neonatal cases throughout the hospital as requested, for example in the Emergency Department.
All other job related duties as assigned.
Advanced neonatal experience and training with an emphasis on newborn intensive care.
Current certification by governing board (NCC or NCCPA)
Certification for NRP, maintained
Active CT license, DEA, and CT Controlled substance license
Eligible for being credentialed in the procedures necessary for Level II Special Care Nursery.
